Bara
Shigri on the left bank of Chandra is one of the largest glaciers in India. The glacier is
so much covered with surface moraine that ice can be seen only along crevasses and in the
ablation areas.
This is a difficult trek and requires experienced in mountaineering and use of connected
equipment. The best time to cross is before sun rise. |

Chhatru-Chhota Dara, On Foot. |
| Day-4 |
Chhota Dara-Foot of Glacier, On Foot.
Cross river
Chandra. Then trek over loose moraine to reach a fiat grassy patch for camping. |
| Day-5 |
Foot-Glacier
Camp, On foot.
Go jumping, avoiding and negotiating crevasses to camp on rather flat and safe patch on
the glacier. If lucky you may find signs of another camp there. |
| Day-6 |
Glacier Camp-Concordia, On Foot.
Concordia offers
breath taking view. Four glaciers meet here. One can see alternating longitudinal stripes
of brilliant white ice and dark debris. Camp at about 4700 m near a tarn in the middle of
the glacier. Safe from avalanches
and falling stones. |

Concordia-Chopini Thach/ end of Tichu Glacier, On
Foot.
From Concordia the
ascent to the Gunthar Pass is Slow. It may take more than two hours. Alti of the pass is
5985 m. Another two hours strenuous walk brings one to the other tongue of this glacier.
One may like to pitch tents here for the night or like to go to Thach for rest. |

Thach-Kalboti, On Foot.
From the tongue of
the glacier the route is narrow along the right bank of Tichu nullah. Down this route one
ends up stating at a 30 ft high rock with no other passage visible. However there is a
very narrow and impossible looking passage along the gorge. One may repel down to reach
Kalboti or may prefer to climb the rock to follow a longer route to reach Kalboti taking
an extra day. |

Call a day of rest. |
| Day-10 |
Kalboti-Pulga, On Foot.
From Kalboti follow
the right bank of the Tosh nullah to the point Where it meets Parbati river. From there
follow the right bank of the river to reach Pulga. |
| Day-11 |
Pulga (2895 m)-Manikaran, 12 kms On
foot.
Pluga is located in
a very narrow valley with steep hills. The area is totally forested. |
