This trek leads to the holy lake of Mani Mahesh where Lord Shiva is believed to have meditated.

Day-1

Keylong-Shipting, 12 kms By bus & on foot.

Upto Tandi go by bus. Cross the bridge over river Chandra to trek to Goshal Village situated in the shadow of almost perpendicular hills. From Goshal follow the left bank of river Chandra to reach a typical Lahauli village, Shipting.
Camp outside the Village.

Day-2

Shipting-Glacier camp, 7 kms on foot.

Trek upstream Shipting nullah to reach the campsite on the glacier.

Day-3

Glacier-Camp Got, 14 kms on foot.

After about 7 kms climb one reaches the Asha Galli pass (alti 5833 m). There is no snow on top of the Pass. This narrow pass. offers good view of Upper Bharmour area. Another 6-7 kms climb-down brings one to the Asha Got which literally means a 'halting place for shepherds'.

Day-4

Chhota Dara-Foot of Glacier, On Foot.

Cross river Chandra. Then trek over loose moraine to reach a fiat grassy patch for camping.

Day-5

Asha Got-Bheni Got, 13 kms on foot.

No habitation is available at Bheni Got. Some shepherds with herds may be seen camping there.

Day-6

Bheni Got-Kugti, 14 kms

Kugti is the first inhabited village of Bharmour. Good conifer forests can be seen. One may chance upon a sloth beer or barking deer too. Forest rest house is available.

Day-7

Kugti-Hadsar, 13 kms on foot.

Trek along the right bank of the Buddal nullah. Hadsar is the jumping off ground for Mani Mahesh and Bharmour

Day-8

Hadsar-Dhancho, 11 kms on foot.

The trek upto this place along with a side nullah is tiring as well as lonely. One may like to accompany the pilgrims for sake of company.

Day-9

Dhancho-Mani Mahesh, 8 kms on foot.

One reaches Mani Mahesh by crossing a glacier. This blue water lake is set like a jewel among thick pine forests at the base of 5575 m high Mani-Mahesh Kailash. There is a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva right in the middle. One may like to stay at Mani Mahesh for the night or prefer to come back to Dhancho for rest.

Day-10

Dhancho/M. Mahesh-Hadsar, Return journey.

From Hadsar bus service is available for Bharmour.

Day-11

Hadsar-Bharmour, 14 kms on foot.

Bharmour is sub-divisional headquaters of Bharmour. Earlier known as Brahmpur, it was under King Meru Varman. At Bharmour visit Chaurasi Temples including the famous Shiva, Narsimha and Sulakshna temples. Some temples are built in the Shikhara style. The work of renowned craftsman GUGA can be seen here. PWD rest house, Sarais and hotels are available to suit every pocket. Chamba is 65 kms from Bharmour.
